Provided in various embodiments are an apparatus and a method for melting materials and containing the molten materials during melting inside a melt zone. The exemplary apparatus may include: a container configured to receive materials to be molten therein; a load induction coil positioned adjacent to the container so as to melt the materials; and a containment induction coil positioned in line with the load induction coil. The materials inside the container may be heated by operating the load induction coil at a first RF frequency to form molten materials. The containment induction coil may operate at a second RF frequency in order to contain the molten materials inside the load induction coil. Once a desired temperature is reached and maintained for the molten materials, the operation of the containment induction coil may be stopped and the molten materials may be discharged from the container to a mold through a discharge path.
