The present invention relates to an apparatus for analyzing a digital spectrum and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the digital spectrum analyzing apparatus includes an input signal generating unit generating an input signal from a sample signal including a frequency band to be analyzed; a filtering unit generating a plurality of signals having the same lowest frequency and differing in the highest frequency by a splitting unit frequency from the input signal using a plurality of FIR (infinite Impulse Response) filters having different passing bands from each other; a converter unit converting the plurality of signals so that the highest frequency of the plurality of signals is consistent with a reference frequency using a plurality of digital down converters (DDCs) differing in the size of a down-converted frequency by the splitting unit frequency; and a power measuring unit measuring power of the plurality of filtered signals when the filtering unit performs resolution bandwidth filtering on the plurality of signals with the highest frequency consistent with the reference frequency by the splitting unit frequency with respect to the reference frequency. As such, according to the present invention, one multi-functional filter may replace a plurality of filters, thus resulting in production of a portable digital spectrum analyzer.
