The present invention relates to a system for managing an electric vehicle and a method thereof. The system includes: a vehicle status data collection device which collects status data of an electric vehicle from one or more sensors for detecting the status data of the vehicle related to the operation of the vehicle; a terminal device which receives the status data of the vehicle from the vehicle status data collection device and transmits the current location data and ID of the vehicle for identifying the vehicle; and an electric vehicle management device which receives the status data of the vehicle, stores the data by vehicle ID, compares the status data with a predefined reference value for the status data, determines whether to generate a vehicle management message, generates a vehicle management message including the location data of a place or an electric vehicle related to the vehicle status data based on the current location data of the electric vehicle, sends the vehicle management message to the terminal device. By receiving the vehicle status data from the electric vehicle in operation and sending a vehicle management message for providing guidance on battery charge, vehicle maintenance, repair, etc. according to the status of the electric vehicle, smooth driving of the electric vehicle can be guaranteed.
