PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric field measuring apparatus in which a probe section having such a size and a weight as being held with one hand is connected to a photodetecting system with an optical fiber, and whose measurement value is not fluctuated by oscillation. SOLUTION: Polarization light from a light source is applied to an electro-optical crystal through a circulator and a second optical path, and the polarization light whose polarization plane is modulated is input in polarization plane detecting means through the second optical path and the circulator to measure an electric field. The second optical path is formed by optically connecting, in order from a part close to the light source, first, second, and third polarization maintaining optical fibers, the second polarization maintaining optical fiber is equivalent to 1/4 wavelength plate, a connecting part between the second and third polarization maintaining fibers has a mounting angle about an optical axis of an odd multiple ofπ/4 radian, and a connecting part between the first and second polarization maintaining optical fibers has the mounting angle about the optical axis is an angle which compensates the rotation of the polarization plane generated by the third polarization maintaining optical fiber.
