<p>The invention relates to a method for producing a portable data carrier, especially a smart card, comprising the following steps: making a carrier strip available which has a top side and a bottom side opposite said top side; and forming a contact field, having at least one contact surface, on a top side of the carrier strip by way of an electrochemical process. The electric supply line in the edge region of the contact surface required for forming the contact surface and the contact surface regions formed in the edge region of the data carrier are removed and/or provided with an electrically insulating coat. The invention further relates to a portable data carrier, a carrier strip and to the use of the data carrier as a subscriber identity module.</p> |
