A transfer for the decoration of a heat resisting base comprises a silicone or silicone coated or impregnated flexible backing sheet, a support film or layer formed of an acrylic resin on said sheet, an image-forming layer of ceramic colour or colours on said resin layer, and a layer of a pressure-sensitive adhesive, covering said imageforming layer. The backing sheet may be Kraft paper impregnated with silicone, whilst the resin layer may comprise 100 parts " Vinalac 5910 " (Registered Trade Mark) acrylic resin), 5 parts of dibutylphthalate, 30 parts of xylene and 0.5 parts of a silicone fluid. Alternatively the " Vinalac " may be replaced by an equal amount of " Bedacryl " (Registered Trade Mark, and an acrylic resin) whilst the silicone fluid is replaced by 4 parts of a long-chain fatty acid, e.g. stearic acid. The image forming layer may be applied by the silk screen method and comprise 100 parts of a ceramic colour powder, 20 parts of " Beckamine Resin P 201 " (Registered Trade Mark for an urea formaldehyde synthetic resin), 6 parts of " Beckasol 416 " (Registered Trade Mark for an alkyd synthetic resin), and 30 parts of amyl lactate. If printed lithographically a ceramic transfer varnish is used to which a ceramic powder is subsequently applied by dusting. A suitable pressuresensitive adhesive is " Aatex " (Registered Trade Mark).
