The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for detecting insertion of an earphone with a mic for a terminal and, more particularly, to a terminal which can detect insertion of an earphone with a mic without using any separate detection pin and can remove noise generated when the earphone with a mic is separated, and a method for detecting insertion of an earphone with a mic for a terminal. To achieve this, an apparatus for detecting insertion of an earphone with a mic for a terminal includes: an earphone with a mic attachment/detachment detection circuit for transmitting an insertion signal or a separation signal of the earphone with a mic to a controller using a resistance value of the earphone with a mic attached and detached to/from the terminal; and a controller for, if the separation signal of the earphone with a mic is received from the earphone with a mic attachment/detachment detection circuit, preventing noise from being output to the earphone with a mic which is not completely detached from the terminal by switching off a mic bias.
