PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a color filter which suppresses elution of colorant into a transparent protective film formed on a colored layer having colored pixels containing dye-based colorant.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a color filter involves forming a transparent protective film on a colored layer, which has colored pixels containing dye-based colorant selected from a group of dyes and lake pigments, of a color filter intermediate product by applying a transparent-protective-film forming resin composition containing a film-forming resin and a solvent which contains 60 mass% or more of a solvent 'a', with respect to a total solvent mass, whose SP value differs from that of the dye-based colorant contained in the colored pixels by more than 0.5 in absolute terms.
