A portable terminal and a method for storing a message and displaying the message in the portable terminal are provided to store a secret message in an additional folder by determining whether a received message is a secret message, thereby completely protecting privacy of a user. A mobile terminal receives a message(S610). The mobile terminal determines whether the received message is a secret message(S620). When the message is determined as the secret message, the mobile terminal stores the message in an area which is accessible only with user authentication(S640). |
