PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double layer sliding member which can be manufactured efficiently at a low cost and minimizes a size changing amount for the use under a high load and to provide a method of manufacturing the double layer sliding member.SOLUTION: A binder 5 is applied on the surface 21 of a metal plate 2 as backing material. Further thereon, a prepreg 3 formed by impregnating woven cloth with phenol resin and, thereafter, drying the woven cloth is stacked, a stacked body is pressed under a force larger than the maximum value of an assumed load upon the usage and, at the same time, is heated and cured and, thereby, a sliding layer which is forcibly plastically deformed is formed on the surface 21 of the metal plate 2. It is also preferable that a metal powder sintering layer 4 is formed on the surface 21 of the metal plate 2. Therein, as a binder 5, a thermosetting resin (low-viscosity phenol resin, epoxy resin or the like) which has high affinity with phenol resin used as the prepreg 3 and has a low viscosity is used. |
