PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a half thrust bearing capable of reducing damage of the bearing surfaces near a thrust relief.SOLUTION: A half thrust bearing 1 is formed with thrust reliefs 5 descending toward peripheral ends 4 at both peripheral sides of a semicircular ring-shaped bearing surface 2. The bearing surface 2 is formed with a resin coating layer 9 containing solid lubricant, a radial cross sectional shape of this resin coating layer 9 is made such that a central portion X1 has a middle high shape axially protruded near the thrust reliefs 5 at the bearing surface 2. The middle high shape of the resin coating layer 9 makes it possible that the thrust surfaces are prevented from being partially tight contacted at both radial end portions X2, X3 near the thrust reliefs 5 when a thrust surface 13a of a crank shaft is slightly swung and further the middle high shape enables the damage of the bearing surfaces near the thrust reliefs to be reduced. |
