Disclosed are a binder for an electrode of a lithium battery, a binder composition including the binder, and a lithium battery containing the binder. The binder includes a water-soluble and electrically conductive polymer including a carboxylate functional group in a main chain, thereby allowing the high capacity of the lithium battery, and being applied to an environmentally friendly water system process since the binder has water soluble properties.
