The present invention relates to a system and a method for preventing a second traffic accident by alarming the next car in case where there is an accident in front of the car on a freeway. The present invention composes: an alarm terminal which receives position data from the GPS satellite, and which transmits alarm signals when movements on position are not detected; an invigoration device which transmits signals that invigorates the alarm terminal if a vehicle having the alarm terminal comes close; a situation indicator which visualizes and indicates the alarm signals from the alarm terminal after being installed in every light on the freeway. According to the system and method for preventing traffic accident of this present invention, the present invention has an effect that a second accident which may be created by the next car approaching a stop due to an initial traffic accident or a breakdown of the vehicle can be prevented as the present invention invigorates the alarm terminal of the vehicle getting onto the highway, and allows the next car to know by transmitting alarm signals through the situation indicator installed on every light of the freeway in case where the position data of the vehicle is not detected from the GPS satellite.
