The selecting unit 102 selects, from a plurality of input images including one or more images including a target subject and a plurality of images including no target subject, two or more images of the plurality of images including no target subject, to obtain a plurality of images to be averaged. The creating unit 103 averages the plurality of images to be averaged to create a reference image for shading correction.
