PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to reliably remove a matter deposited on an image carrier with a cleaning member.SOLUTION: A printer 1 includes a photoreceptor drum 11 carrying a toner image, a transfer roller 19 for transferring the toner image to a sheet P, and a drum cleaning roller 24 for cleaning transfer residual toner deposited on the photoreceptor drum 11 after the toner image is transferred to the sheet P. When a transfer bias to be applied to the transfer roller 19 is relatively low, a potential difference between the photoreceptor drum 11 and the drum cleaning roller 24 is secured to electrostatically remove the transfer residual toner with the drum cleaning roller 24. When the transfer bias is relatively high, the potential difference between the photoreceptor drum 11 and the drum cleaning roller 24 is reduced to physically scrape off the transfer residual toner with the drum cleaning roller 24. |
