PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for supporting detail observation of a subject in depth direction, in observing the subject using a digital image.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes image acquiring means which acquires a plurality of layer images obtained by a microscope device which images different positions of a subject; and image generation means for generating a plurality of observation images from the layer images. The image generation means performs synthesis processing for focus-stacking two or more of the layer images to generate one observation image, a plurality of times, thereby generating the observation images.
