PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of attaching, at a predetermined timing, the sufficient amount of lubricant onto image carriers of second image forming units provided with no lubricant supply means, even when the image forming apparatus is provided with a plurality of image forming units arranged side by side to be opposite to an intermediate transfer body, the plurality of image forming units including a first image forming unit provided with lubricant supply means and the second image forming units provided with no lubricant supply means.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus can perform a lubricant move and supply mode at a predetermined timing to move lubricant attached to an image carrier 11 of a first image forming unit 10BK with the use of an intermediate transfer body 17 to cause the lubricant to be attached to image carriers 11 of second image forming units 10Y, 10M, and 10C, while contact members such as an intermediate transfer cleaning unit 19, secondary transfer bias roller 18, and cleaning blade 14a are separated from the intermediate transfer body 17 and the image carrier 11 of the first image forming unit 10BK. |
