PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system and an image processing method, which include a user interface enabling even a user having no knowledge of an input rule and the like to easily set a constraining condition used for character recognition.SOLUTION: An image processing system for acquiring character information from an input image includes: a processing part for executing character recognition on a zone included in an input image under a predetermined constraining condition; and a display operation part for receiving a setup of the constraining condition. The constraining condition includes at least specification of a character category in a character string of a recognition target. The display operation part displays a zone showing a set constraining condition in arrangement with plural objects respectively correlated with plural character categories that can be specified, and add a character category correlated with a selected object to the constraining condition when any of the aforementioned objects is selected.
