PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for producing a glass substrate that can suppress an installation cost and a running cost of a pipe for transferring molten glass, avoiding much energization to the pipe in producing a glass substrate.SOLUTION: The apparatus for producing a glass substrate includes: a melting furnace; a molding device for molding a sheet glass; and a pipe made of platinum or platinum alloy that is installed between the melting furnace and the molding device and used to transfer or treat the molten glass. The apparatus further includes: a castable refractory 110d which is installed in the outer periphery of the pipe so as to contact with the outer periphery and supports the pipe; an electroformed refractory 110a containing zirconia as a component, which is installed in the outer periphery of the castable refractory 110d so as to contact with the outer periphery and supports the pipe and the castable refractory 110d; and heat radiation inhibiting members 110b,110c which are installed on the outer periphery of the electroformed refractory 110a and inhibit heat radiation from the electroformed refractory 110a. |
