PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the direction of a read image even in the case that hue of an image to be read is similar in a plurality of areas during reading a certificate, such as a driver's license.SOLUTION: An image input part 2 reads an image of a driver's lincense with a driver's license number written. An image direction determination part 9 of an information processor 9 detects a distribution of reflection light for an area in which the driver's license number should be written in the image read by the image input part 2. The image direction determination part 9 determines whether the number of characters existing in a specified area is a predetermined number according to the detected distribution of reflection light. The image direction determination part 9 determines the direction of the image of the driver's license in accordance with the determination result of a character number determination part. |
