PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary damper capable of reducing a frictional force at a shaft rotation time without deteriorating any sealability.SOLUTION: In order to solve the aforementioned problem, according to means for solving the problem of the invention, a rotary damper D comprises: a case 1; a shaft 5 inserted rotatably into the case 1; vanes 6 disposed on the outer circumference of the shaft 5 and defining the inside of the case 1 into one chamber R1 and the other chamber R2; a C-shaped seal groove 7 formed in the vanes 6; and a seal member 8 housed in the seal groove 7 and held in sliding contact with the case 1 for sealing the clearance between the vanes 6 and the case 1. The seal member 8 includes: a first rubber seal portion 81 for sliding contact with both one side panel 3 and a case body 2; a second rubber seal portion 82 for sliding to contact with both the other side panel 4 and the case body 2; and a leading-end resin seal portion 83 made of a fluororesin and arranged between the first rubber seal portion 81 and the second rubber seal portion 82 for sliding to contact with the case body 2. |
