The present invention relates to a composite material having a reduced weight and improved crashworthiness using an aramid hybrid mat. The composite material is composed of: a thermoplastic resin; and a hybrid mat coupled with the thermoplastic resin in a molding manner. The hybrid mat is woven by using an armid fiber and a glass fiber. The hybrid mat is prepared by simultaneously weaving a fabric, in which the aramid fiber is used as warp and the glass fiber is used as weft, and a glass fiber non-woven mat, which is used in the existing GMT, at the time of weaving. This aramid hybrid mat is used to provide a composite material with a reduced weight and improved crashworthiness. According to the present invention, the aramid fiber is used to prepare the hybrid mat, and this hybrid mat is combined with GMT, thereby improving the molding workability, making the physical distribution uniform, enabling low-weight designing, and increasing crash resistance through enhancement in tensile strength. |
