Developed is a system for transporting ink for a phase-change ink printer, which is capable of exactly controlling a recharge from a first ink storage to a second ink storage while the number of moving components is minimized. The system includes a thermoelectric device operatively connected to a thermoelectric pipe which is capable of allowing fluid from the first and second ink storages to communicate with each other. The thermoelectric device is operated by a controller to heat the phase change ink in the thermoelectric pipe so that the ink flows from the first ink storage into the second ink storage. The heat is removed from the phase change ink in the thermoelectric pipe to solidify the ink in the pipe to prevent the ink from flowing from the first ink storage to the second ink storage.
