PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element capable of obtaining long life phosphorescence and an organic EL element material for realizing the same.SOLUTION: The organic EL element material is a compound including an indolocarbazole skeleton and a nitrogen-containing complex ring group within the same molecule. The nitrogen-containing complex ring group has, as a substituent group, an electron attractive group and/or a substituent group X whose Hammet rule substituent constant ((&sgr;p (para)) takes on a positive value, an aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6-30 ring formation carbons replaced with the substituent group X, or a heterocyclic group (W) having 5-30 ring formation carbons replaced with the substituent group X. The organic EL element material is used preferably in a luminescent layer. |
