The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a light guide plate capable of enhancing luminous efficiency and brightness and a backlight unit having the light guide plate. The backlight unit according to the present invention comprises: a light source for generating a light; and a light guide plate which guides an incident light from the light source and emits the guided light upwardly, and in which an embossed pattern and an intaglio pattern are formed on the back and the front surface is formed flat. The embossed pattern of the light guide plate is formed in a lenticular lens shape protruded to an opposite direction of the front surface of the light guide plate. The intaglio pattern of the light guide plate is formed with the intaglio pattern having a vertex angle where two inclined planes intersect wherein an angle between a longer inclined plane among the two inclined planes and a base line forming a straight line with the back surface of the light guide plate is 45-55 degrees.
