The method involves obtaining equivalence between real engine functional states and real flow and/or pressure measurements in a supercharged engine assembly, where measurements are obtained by a fresh air flowmeter (5). The equivalence between the real states and the real measurements is compared with the equivalence between the engine functional states and the flow and/or pressure measurements in the assembly, without the failure of the assembly at a signature relative to the considered failure for producing a signal representing that the assembly attains the considered failure.
