<p>The invention relates to a method for setting the spark advance of a spark-ignition engine during a rapid change in required engine torque, comprising, in accordance with the current engine operating conditions: calculating (20) an output set value, which provides the required-torque value; and estimating (22) the optimum spark advance established from mappings comprising input data representing said current operating conditions, characterized in that a combustion-timing set value is further determined (40) from the output set value and a maximum combustion timing (42) as well as a minimum combustion timing (44) are determined from the current operating conditions, then said three combustion-timing values are integrated (46), and finally the result of the integration is converted into a spark advance value (50) which is applied to the engine.</p> |
