PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module and optical system of a phase modulation method in which a period having an optical signal to be output put into an abnormal modulation state is reduced, and to provide a control method of the optical module and the optical system.SOLUTION: The optical module comprises: a light source that outputs first light; a first modulator of a phase modulation method that modulates the first light to output second light; a second modulator for a pulse carver that performs a waveform adjustment of the second light by a periodic signal and then, outputs third light serving as an output optical signal; and a control circuit that performs an automatic bias control of each of bias voltages and controls the modulation of the first modulator and the waveform adjustment of the second modulator. The control circuit includes: third optical output reduction means that reduces an optical output of the third light to less than a predetermined value when the optical module is in an unstable state; and first modulator automatic bias control means that stabilizes the optical output thereof by performing the automatic bias control to the first bias voltage when the optical output of the third light is reduced to less than the predetermined value by the third optical output reduction means. |
