The present technology relates to a reception device, a reception method, a transmission device, a transmission method, and a program, by which an application program to be executed in conjunction with AV content in hybrid broadcasting can be provided. An information acquisition section obtains control information for controlling the operation of an application program to be executed in conjunction with AV content, and an application control section terminates the application program being executed on the basis of continuation range information that is contained in the control information and indicates a timeline range during which continuation of operation of the application program is possible. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a television receiver for receiving digital television broadcast signals. |
