The method involves activating a plastic surface (2) of a mold part i.e. plate-like component (1), by applying heat, where the plastic is duromer. A deck coating comprising powdered material is applied on the surface of the mold part, where the powdered material comprises powdered minerals, diverse sand types, fine gravel and mica. The applied deck coating is cured. A cross-linking layer i.e. clamping coat, is applied on the surface of the mold part according to activation of heat supply. A color layer is applied according to the deck coating and curing of the deck coating. An independent claim is also included for a coated mold part.
