摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a positive electrode active material for a lithium ion battery, that can materialize further improvement of rate characteristics while having a high open pore ratio, by an extremely simple method.SOLUTION: Hydroxide material powder is prepared which comprises secondary particles formed by aggregation of a large number of primary particles having a composition expressed by NiM(OH)(in the formula, 0<y&le;0.5, M is at least one or more kinds of metal element selected from the group consisting of Co, Al, Mg, Mn, Ti, Fe, Cr, Zn and Ga), and in which at least some of the primary particles are radially arranged outward from the center of the secondary particle. Ultrasonic waves are irradiated to the hydroxide material powder and/or the thermally decomposed oxide powder thereof. The hydroxide material powder and/or the thermally decomposed oxide powder thereof irradiated with ultrasonic waves are made to react with a single lithium compound, or a combination of a compound containing a metal element M and a lithium compound so as to give a prescribed composition, and the positive electrode active material for the lithium ion battery, that is provided with open pores, is thereby obtained.
