The present invention relates to a ribbon supply apparatus for printing a ribbon irrespective of the width or color of the ribbon by using a duplex printing type printer, and the ribbon supply apparatus for a duplex printing type printer having a paper feeding portion open on the front surface of a case (1) so as to feed paper to the interior of the case, an outputting portion open on the front surface of the case in parallel with the paper feeding portion so as to output the printed paper from the interior of the case, a printing head printing the paper introduced into the case, a conveying roller portion located at the inside of the case and rotated to convey the paper introduced through the paper feeding portion to the outputting portion, a sensor portion moving from one side of the case to the other side thereof so as to sense the position of one side portion of the paper introduced as a printing start point, an auxiliary case detachably mounted on the rear side of the case open so as to check the interior of the case, and a guide roller portion mounted at the inside of the auxiliary case and adapted to rotatably wind the paper conveyed through the conveying roller portion, to change the front and rear surfaces of the paper with respect to the printing head, and thus to allow the paper to be printed on both surfaces thereof, wherein the auxiliary case (60) includes: a slot (61) incised on the top surface thereof along the lengthwise direction thereof so as to introduce the ribbon printed by the operation of the printer thereinto; a checking hole (62) incised forwardly from the slot (61) by a given width so as to check the introduced state of the ribbon through the slot (61) with a user′s eyes; and a guide plate (63) mounted on one side portion of the slot so as to guide the ribbon introduced into the slot.
