PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve enhanced ionization by causing a substance that does not easily dissolve in a solvent in an atmospheric pressure environment to actively dissolve in the solvent.SOLUTION: An ionization device comprises: a holding base 1 holding a sample 2; a probe 3 for determining a portion of the sample to be ionized, the sample being held by the holding base 1; an irradiation unit 7 emitting laser light; and an ion extraction electrode 10 for extracting ions obtained by ionizing the sample. The ionization device includes liquid supply means 4 for supplying a liquid to a part of a region of the sample. The irradiation unit 7 is arranged so that a liquid bridge portion 6 between the sample 2 and the probe 3 is irradiated with the laser light. The ionization device includes electric field generation means 5, 11 for generating an electric field between a portion of the probe 3 that is in contact with the liquid bridge portion 6 and the ion extraction electrode.
