PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereo camera device that more accurately detects a recognition object even at a far distance or at a near distance.SOLUTION: A stereo camera device includes: a first imaging unit; a second imaging unit; an object region specification processing unit that specifies an existence region of a recognition object and the type of the recognition object on the basis of a first image acquired from the first imaging unit; a distance calculation processing unit that calculates a distance to the recognition object on the basis of an image of the existence region of the recognition object from the object region specification processing unit and a second image acquired from the second imaging unit; a feature calculation processing unit that calculates a feature amount in a real space of the recognition object on the basis of the distance calculated by the distance calculation processing unit and the existence region of the recognition object calculated by the object region specification processing unit; and an object feature verification processing unit that performs verification of the type of the recognition object specified by the object region specification processing unit on the basis of the feature amount calculated by the feature calculation processing unit.
