PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which deterioration of image quality due to a stripe noise caused by a movement distance error of recording medium conveyance is reduced while including serial heads.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a conveying mechanism for a recording medium; a recording section for forming an overlapping region of recording by performing operation to repeat movement of the head unit in a conveying direction of the recording medium by a predetermined distance in which length equivalent to an overlapping portion is subtracted from printable length of the head unit in advance, for each operation that moves the head unit in a direction orthogonal to the conveying direction of the recording medium, or for each operation that moves the head unit in a main scan direction and returns the head unit to an original position after the movement; a characteristic determination section for determining characteristics of image information in the overlapping region; and an overlapping processing section for performing predetermined correction processing to an image signal in the overlapping region by varying calculation of correction data for the overlapping region based on a determination result of the characteristic determination section. |
