The lifting mechanism (10) has a base plate (15) that is arranged on a loading platform of a railway container support carriage. A pneumatic or hydraulic lifting element (16) is supported on the base plate. The lifting element is raised and lowered at a bottom side of an interchangeable structure and is connected with a lifting plate (17). A piston force confinement device (20) is provided to limit the piston force applied by the lifting plate on the bottom side of the interchangeable structure. An independent claim is included for a method for loading interchangeable structure with lifting mechanism.
