The method involves transferring centrifugal overpressure of a rotary liquid disk (1) to a deformable damping chamber by uncompressed fluid (4) such that amount of fluid in the disk is reduced. Another amount of fluid is conducted from the disk towards the chamber during increased rotational speed of a rotor (5) such that overpressure in the chamber increases. The chamber is easily relaxed and the fluid is forced back to the disk during decreasing of the rotational speed, where continuous overpressure exists in the fluid with respect to environment and comprises only small fluctuations. An independent claim is also included for a locking device.
