METHOD FOR TESTING CABLE CORE FOR SUPERCONDUCTING CABLE

Provided is a method for testing a cable core for a superconducting cable, whereby it is possible to prevent damage to the cable core due to thermal contraction during testing. A cable core (100) equipped with a superconducting conductor layer and wound onto a drum (10) is prepared as a test subject. The test subject is accommodated in a cooling container (1), and characteristics along the entire length of the core (100) are investigated while the superconducting conductor layer is cooled by a liquid refrigerant (2L) filled into the cooling container (1) and a superconducting state is maintained. The core is cooled in a state in which an escaping allowance for thermal contraction of the winding diameter that accompanies cooling of the core (100) is formed on the inside of turns made by the core (100). Because of the escaping allowance, a winding drum (11) is not readily tightened even when thermal contraction of the core (100) occurs, and damage to the core (100) can be prevented.
