The present invention provides a chain tensioner which can be widely used due to the simple structure thereof, can supply oil sufficient to restart the chain tensioner after oil supply has stopped for a long time, and also can be shortened overall and reduced in size. A chain tensioner (100), which biases a plunger (120) inserted into a plunger receiving hole (111) of a tensioner body (110) to a protruding direction by means of a biasing unit (140) disposed to be extensible in an oil pressure chamber (101), includes: a communication adjustment groove (122) defining a supply space (102) on the outer circumference of the plunger (120); an oil storage chamber (123) disposed in the plunger (120); and a leak groove (125) disposed on the outer circumference of the plunger (120) toward the oil pressure chamber (101) and extending to the supply space (102). |
