<p>The present invention relates to an apparatus for detecting counterfeit money using a terahertz electromagnetic wave which comprises: a terahertz irradiating unit which irradiates money with a terahertz wave; a reflective wave detecting unit which detects a reflective wave which is reflected from the money; a reflective wave energy measuring unit which measures the energy of the reflective wave based on a detection signal detected by the reflective wave detecting unit; and a control unit which generates a reflective image about the money based on the detection signal detected by the reflective wave detecting unit and determines whether the money is counterfeit money based on the reflective image and the energy of the reflective wave.
