PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake release mechanism capable of easily and quickly releasing brake by a brake mechanism even by a one-handed operation, and a medical manipulator including the same.SOLUTION: A medical manipulator 10 comprises a brake release mechanism 136. The brake release mechanism 136 includes a release button 202 provided at a tilt wheel 26, and a lever mechanism 204, at least a part of which is disposed inside the tilt wheel 26 and that is pressed with inward movement of the release button 202. The lever mechanism 204 is operated with an operation of the release button 202 so as to release the brake by the brake mechanism 134.
