PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic display device which informs an observer of a direction where stereoscopic display is possible and a direction where stereoscopic display can be maintained and can reduce troublesomeness of the observer with shift of a viewpoint position and to provide a display method of the stereoscopic display device.SOLUTION: A control section 20 allows display means 30 to display a direction indication image for suggesting a center direction of an observation region as an image observed by an observer in a left eye image and a right eye image when it is determined that one of a left eye and a right eye of an operator 102 reaches an end of the observation region where the left eye image or the right eye image can be observed or an outer side of the observation region in response to a viewpoint position which position detection means detects.
