PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that in a conventional escalator, a weak-sighted person falls down, gets involved in a falling accident caused by reversely getting on the escalator, and the like, because the person cannot grasp an operation direction and speed feeling, and in a failure in equipment and the like, time required for specifying a failure portion is wasted, and non-operation time increases.SOLUTION: An escalator includes: a footstep group 4 which reverses and moves between a forward path and a backward path, and transports a passenger; a handrail belt 6 which reverses and moves between the forward path and the backward path in synchronization with the footstep group 4. A printing sheet 6AA covering a flat portion 6a and both edge portions 6b on the surface of the handrail belt 6 is stuck in its total length direction, direction indication marks 6A having a color different from the color of the handrail belt 6 are provided on the flat portion 6a on the surface of the printing sheet 6AA at appropriate intervals, and position indication portions 6k such as a plurality of numeric characters, symbols and the like are provided on the flat portion 6a or both edge portion 6b on the surface at appropriate intervals. |
