PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect, in a device mounted on a vehicle and detecting another vehicle by using sound outside the vehicle collected by a microphone, a state of inability of detecting another vehicle due to abnormality such as failure of the microphone.SOLUTION: A vehicle detection device of the present invention includes: vehicle surrounding state detection means for detecting a state of surroundings of a position where a vehicle is actually present; environmental sound characteristic value providing means for providing, when a microphone is normal corresponding to the detected state of surroundings, a characteristic value of environmental sound to be collected by the microphone; and abnormality determination means for determining whether or not the microphone is abnormal on the basis of a characteristic value of sound actually collected by the microphone and the characteristic value of the environmental sound provided by the environmental sound characteristic value providing means. |
