PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and inexpensive photon pair generation apparatus capable of generating frequency non-correlated photon pairs.SOLUTION: A core 101 includes a plurality of Bragg diffraction gratings 111 which are periodically provided therein and the refractive index of which changes periodically. The respective Bragg diffraction gratings 111 are connected with each other by line-shaped linear waveguides 112 which have no periodic (homogenous) structures.
