PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radial-gap rotary electric machine in which a demagnetization yield strength of a permanent magnet is improved at a low cost without reducing torque characteristics or efficiency characteristics.SOLUTION: An outer rotor type radial-gap rotary electric machine 9 comprises a field element 1 and an armature 2. The field element 1 includes a permanent magnet 11 and a magnetic ring 12 that becomes a back yoke of the permanent magnet 11. The magnetic ring 12 is provided at a position further from the armature 2 than the permanent magnet 11 and includes a recess 121 in a magnetic pole center 110. The magnetic pole center 110 is a center in a circumferential direction for a rotational axis 3 of a magnetic pole. In the recess 121, thickness in a radial direction around the rotational axis 3 is locally reduced.
