A liquid crystal display device comprising a liquid crystal cell in which a liquid crystal layer is provided between two glass substrates, polarization plates provided to both sides of the liquid crystal cell, and a backlight provided to a rear side (non-viewing side) of the liquid crystal cell, wherein the polarization plate provided to the front side (viewing side) of the liquid crystal cell has a difference of 0.01% to 3.0% between the moisture content of the polarization plate immediately after elapsing of a condition (A) and the moisture content of the polarization plate immediately after elapsing of a condition (B). [Condition (A): Allowed to stand for 48 hours in an environment at 60°C, relative humidity 90%.] [Condition (B): Allowed to stand for 48 hours in an environment at 60°C, relative humidity 90%, and thereafter allowed to stand for six hours in an environment at 25°C, relative humidity 10%.]</p>
