PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a composition for treating 25-hydroxy vitamin D insufficiency and deficiency in a patient.SOLUTION: The method of the present invention comprises orally administering, to a patient, a delaying extended-release formulation comprising a first component selected from the group consisting of 25-hydroxy vitamin D, 25-hydroxy vitamin D, or a combination of 25-hydroxy vitamin Dand 25-hydroxy vitamin D, or the method comprises progressively administering, to a patient, an aseptic intravenous formulation comprising a first component selected from the group consisting of 25-hydroxy vitamin D, 25-hydroxy vitamin D, or a combination of 25-hydroxy vitamin Dand 25-hydroxy vitamin D.
