PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately update variation in dictionary information due to secular variation while variance exists in input state including condition of illumination, input direction and timing although a need exists to update biological information registered as dictionary information along with the secular variation which is mid-and-long term due to variation in aging and characteristics of a subject person in a system for mid-and-long term authentication.SOLUTION: A method for updating a dictionary for person authentication for storing biological information of a person who is a subject of recognition includes: an accumulation process for accumulating biological information queries accepted during a prescribed period to history accumulation means; a creation process for creating a degree of similarity for every pair of biological information by measuring the degree of similarity between accumulated biological information queries; and an update process for updating the dictionary for person authentication on the basis of the pair of biological information determined to have high similarity.
