PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin and a production method of the resin exhibiting sufficient performances required to a toner, enhancing water resistance of an image and achieving good glossiness characteristics, and to provide a toner using the resin.SOLUTION: The resin comprises a polymeric compound (A) in which a structural unit derived from rosin is incorporated into the main chain; and the polymeric compound (A) has a structural unit at a chain terminal thereof, the structural unit derived from rosin having no polymerizable functional group. The structural unit derived from rosin at the chain terminal is preferably expressed by formula (IV). In the formula, Rand Rrepresent an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms or an alkenyl group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms; p and q represent an integer of 0 to 3; # represents a bond; and a ring with a broken line represents an aliphatic ring or an aromatic ring. |
